Subtitles & Closed Captions

Follow every word of the story with subtitles or closed captions in your preferred language.

Turning subtitles on or off

  1. Start playing an episode or film.
  2. Tap the Subtitles icon (speech bubble) in the player controls.
  3. Choose a language from the list, or select Off to disable subtitles.

Changing subtitle language

The available subtitle languages depend on the title. Most Dreamsquare originals are available in English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.

Customising appearance

You can adjust how subtitles look on screen:

  1. Go to Profile Settings > Playback > Subtitle Appearance.
  2. Adjust settings including:
    • Font size — Small, medium, large, or extra large.
    • Font colour — White, yellow, or custom.
    • Background — Transparent, semi-transparent, or solid.
    • Font style — Standard, serif, or monospace.

Changes apply to all content across your account.

Closed captions vs. subtitles

  • Subtitles translate spoken dialogue into another language.
  • Closed captions (CC) include dialogue plus descriptions of sound effects, music, and other audio cues — ideal for viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Look for the CC label in the subtitle menu when available.
