Audio out of sync with video

Audio Sync Issues

When the audio and video don't match up, it breaks the immersion. Here's how to fix it.

Quick fixes

  1. Pause and resume — Pause playback for a few seconds, then resume. This often resolves minor sync drift.
  2. Seek forward and back — Skip forward 30 seconds, then skip back. This forces the player to resynchronise.
  3. Restart the episode — Close the episode and reopen it from the beginning or your previous position.
  4. Restart the app — Force close Dreamsquare and relaunch.

If the issue persists

  1. Check for app updates — Audio sync bugs are frequently fixed in app updates. Make sure you're on the latest version.
  2. Lower the video quality — If your device is struggling with high-resolution playback, the audio can drift ahead. Try setting quality to 720p or lower.
  3. Disable surround sound — If your audio setup doesn't fully support the surround format, switching to stereo may resolve the sync issue. Go to Profile Settings > Playback > Surround Sound > Off.
  4. Try a different device — If the issue only occurs on one device, it may be hardware or firmware related.

Downloaded content

If a downloaded episode has persistent audio sync issues:

  1. Remove the download.
  2. Re-download the episode.
  3. Try playing it again.

If the issue remains after re-downloading, it may be a problem with the source content. Report it via the Report a problem with a title article so our content team can investigate.

Casting and external audio

Audio sync problems are more common when casting to external devices (Chromecast, AirPlay, Bluetooth speakers). Try connecting directly via HDMI or using wired headphones to see if the issue is related to the wireless connection.
